Engagement rings in Antwerp or Brussels: how to prepare for your first appointment at Beldiamond

How to Prepare for Your Engagement Ring Appointment in Antwerp or Brussels

Choosing an engagement ring is a meaningful step, and it often comes with many questions. Which style should you choose? Which diamond shape will suit your partner? Should you select a natural or lab-grown diamond? And what budget should you set?

At Beldiamond, we welcome you for private engagement ring appointments in our Antwerp and Brussels showrooms. During your appointment, one of our jewellery experts will guide you through the different options, answer your questions and help you make an informed decision always in a personal and pressure-free setting.

Whether you already have a clear idea of the ring you are looking for or do not know where to begin, we are here to help you create a piece that feels right for you and your partner.

Why Book an Appointment at a Beldiamond Showroom?

Choosing an engagement ring online can be a useful starting point, but seeing and trying on different designs often makes the decision much easier.

During your appointment, you can compare diamond shapes, carat weights, setting styles and precious metals in person. This allows you to appreciate proportions and details that can be difficult to judge from photographs alone.

It is also an opportunity to tell us more about your partner, their style, your proposal plans and your budget. Based on this information, we can guide you towards the options that best reflect your preferences and priorities.

There is no obligation to make a decision during the appointment. Our role is to give you clear and transparent advice so that you can choose with confidence.

How Should You Prepare for Your Appointment?

You do not need to know anything about diamonds before visiting us. Learning about the different possibilities is part of the experience.

However, a few details can help us understand what you are looking for more quickly.

Consider Your Partner’s Style

Think about the jewellery your partner already wears. Do they prefer delicate or more statement pieces? Is their style classic, modern, minimalist or vintage-inspired? Do they usually wear white, yellow or rose gold?

Photographs of their jewellery or inspiration saved from websites, Pinterest or social media can be very helpful. You do not need to find the exact ring — even a few images can help us identify the shapes and details your partner may appreciate.

Think About Your Budget

Having an approximate budget in mind allows us to present the most relevant options from the beginning.

The final price of an engagement ring depends on several elements, including the origin, size and quality of the diamond, the chosen precious metal and the complexity of the setting. During your appointment, we explain how each choice influences the appearance and price of the ring, helping you find the right balance for your project.

Do Not Worry if You Do Not Know the Ring Size

Knowing your partner’s exact ring size is helpful, but it is not essential.

If possible, you can bring a ring they already wear on the correct finger. A photograph of the ring next to a ruler may also help us make an initial estimate. If the size is not quite right after the proposal, the ring can usually be adjusted, free of charge.

Let Us Know Your Preferred Timing

If you already have a proposal date in mind, mention it when booking your appointment.

Most rings are ready within approximately three to five weeks, depending on the design and level of personalisation. Planning ahead gives you more time to explore your options and allows us to confirm whether your preferred deadline can be accommodated.

What Happens During the Appointment?

Every appointment begins with a conversation about your project. We will ask about your partner, their style, your budget and your plans for the proposal.

You do not need to have all the answers — our role is to guide you through the process one step at a time.

Exploring Diamond Shapes and Ring Styles

You will be able to discover and compare a selection of engagement rings in person.

We will introduce you to the main diamond shapes, including round, oval, pear, emerald, cushion, marquise and radiant cuts. You can also explore different setting styles, such as solitaire, pavé, halo, hidden halo and side-stone designs.

Trying on different rings often reveals preferences that were not immediately obvious from photographs. A diamond shape or setting you had not initially considered may feel completely different once you see it on the hand.

Understanding Diamond Quality and the 4Cs

We will also explain the 4Cs: carat weight, colour, clarity and cut quality.

These four criteria influence the appearance and price of a diamond. However, choosing a beautiful stone does not necessarily mean selecting the highest grade in every category. We focus on the qualities that can genuinely be appreciated by the eye and help you find the best balance between beauty, quality and budget.

For a more detailed explanation, you can also consult our guide to choosing an engagement ring.

Choosing Between a Natural and Lab-Grown Diamond

Beldiamond offers both natural and lab-grown diamonds.

Both have the same chemical, physical and optical properties. The difference lies in their origin: natural diamonds formed deep within the Earth over billions of years, while lab-grown diamonds are created in a controlled environment using advanced technology.

Neither option is automatically the right choice for everyone. During your appointment, we explain the differences transparently so that you can decide according to your personal preferences and priorities.

Diamonds of 0.30 ct and above are accompanied by a grading report from a recognised independent gemological laboratory. Depending on the diamond selected, this may be issued by GIA or HRD for a natural diamond, or by GIA or IGI for a lab-grown diamond.

Choosing the Precious Metal

Your engagement ring can be crafted in 18K white, yellow or rose gold, as well as platinum.

The choice will mainly depend on your partner’s preferences, the jewellery they already wear and the overall style of the ring. We will show you the different options during your appointment and explain the practical and aesthetic characteristics of each metal.

Can You Create a Tailor-Made Engagement Ring?

Every Beldiamond engagement ring can be personalised.

You may choose to adapt one of the designs in our collection by changing details such as the centre stone, band width, prong style, setting height or hidden halo. If you have something more specific in mind, we can also create an entirely tailor-made engagement ring based on your ideas, sketches or inspiration images.

Our team will guide you through the aesthetic and technical choices to create a ring that is not only beautiful, but also balanced, durable and comfortable to wear every day.

Each ring is made to order and handcrafted in our jewellery atelier in Antwerp.

Should You Come Alone or With Your Partner?

You are welcome to come alone, with a friend or family member, or together as a couple.

Many clients visit us alone because they want to preserve the surprise of the proposal. In that case, we help them identify their partner’s style using photographs, inspiration images and examples of jewellery their partner already wears.

Other couples prefer to choose the engagement ring together. This can make the experience even more personal and ensures that the final design reflects the wearer’s preferences.

There is no right or wrong approach. What matters is choosing the experience that feels most natural to you.

What Happens After the Appointment?

After your appointment, we can prepare a personalised quotation based on the design and diamond you selected. There is no obligation to place an order, and you can take the time you need before confirming your decision.

When you are ready to proceed, a 50% deposit secures the order, with the remaining balance due before delivery.

Your ring is then handcrafted in our Antwerp atelier and carefully inspected before it is presented or delivered to you. Production generally takes approximately three to five weeks, depending on the design and level of personalisation.

A complimentary engraving can also be added when the design allows it. This may include a date, initials or a short personal message.

If the estimated ring size is not quite right, the first resizing is complimentary. Our lifetime aftercare also includes professional cleaning and ongoing maintenance, subject to the conditions of our lifetime warranty. Shipping costs may apply.

No. You can visit us with a very clear idea or without knowing where to begin. We will guide you according to your partner’s style, your preferences and your budget.
