How to choose your wedding rings

Choosing your wedding rings is an important step in planning your wedding. The metal, width, profile, finish and any diamonds all influence both the style of your rings and how comfortable they feel every day.

At Beldiamond, you can choose from 18-carat white, yellow or rose gold, as well as platinum. Our experts will guide you through the different options and help you find wedding rings that suit your style, your lifestyle and your budget.

If you plan to wear your wedding ring alongside an engagement ring, we recommend bringing it to your appointment. You can then try on different designs and see which shapes and proportions work best together.

When should you order your wedding rings?

We recommend starting your search several months before your wedding. This gives you time to explore different designs, compare metals and widths, and personalise your wedding rings without rushing.

Once your choice is confirmed, production generally takes three to four weeks. If your wedding is approaching, contact us so we can check whether a shorter timeframe is possible.

What width should you choose for a wedding ring?

The width has a significant impact on how a wedding ring looks on your hand. As a guide, men’s wedding rings often measure between 3 and 4.5 mm. A 3 mm band offers a more understated look, while a 4 to 4.5 mm band has a stronger presence.

When a women’s wedding ring is worn alongside an engagement ring, a width of approximately 1.4 to 2.2 mm generally creates a delicate, harmonious pairing.

These measurements are only a guide. The best way to choose is to try on several widths and find the one you feel looks most elegant and comfortable.

A plain wedding band or a diamond wedding ring?

A plain wedding band without diamonds offers an understated, timeless look. It can be slim or wider, with a polished, matte or brushed finish.

For extra sparkle, you can choose a wedding ring set with natural or lab-grown diamonds. The diamonds can extend halfway, three-quarters of the way or all the way around the band.

A full-eternity wedding ring offers continuous sparkle, but resizing options are generally very limited. A three-quarter-eternity ring provides a good balance: the diamonds remain visible when the ring turns slightly, while leaving a small section of plain metal.

A half-eternity wedding ring is generally easier to resize. However, if it turns on your finger, the plain section may become visible on top of your hand.
